Paws for Posties

Bring safety to life in your classroom with PDSA and CWU’s Paws for Posties assembly!

This engaging, ready-to-use assembly has been designed to help primary school children understand how to behave safely around dogs, both at home and in their communities. Through interactive content, real-life scenarios and expert guidance, pupils will learn simple but important ways to stay safe around dogs while also understanding how their actions can help protect visitors to their homes, including postal workers and other delivery professionals.

Created in partnership between PDSA and the Communication Workers Union (CWU), the assembly supports children in developing confidence, empathy and responsible behaviour around dogs. The resource explores why dogs may react in different situations, how to recognise signs that a dog may be feeling uncomfortable and what children can do to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.

Designed with busy teachers in mind, the assembly is completely ready to deliver. Simply download the PowerPoint presentation and play the accompanying recorded videos - there’s no preparation required. Whether you're looking to support your personal development curriculum, promote responsible pet ownership, or raise awareness of community safety, this assembly provides an engaging and informative learning experience for pupils.

Perfect for whole-school assemblies, classroom sessions or themed safety events, Paws for Posties helps children develop lifelong safety skills while encouraging kindness and understanding towards dogs and the people who interact with them every day.
